My Vision
I hope that I would make an impact on someone by being in Computer Science.
My Vision
As a child, I always liked solving puzzles and figuring how to fix someone’s problem by breaking it up and putting it back together. This ideal made me go into Computer Science program and more importantly a computer science profession. Once, I enter a computer science professional full time in front-end development or software engineer, I would be able to solve a client’s or company’s problem. This way, I would be solving puzzles everyday at work which gives me joy and makes me happy. For, the longest time, I enjoyed helping people solve their problems either by tutoring them or helping them out in the smallest tasks. In the future, I would like to take my knowledge and my skills that I have developed, and I will use it to help a lot of people solve their problems in a bigger scale.
Computer Science is a growing field, there are endless possibility of possible careers to go into in the future. The best part of being a Computer Scientist is that you can have an innovative mind and you can start building something from scratch or build something in the process of development however, no matter how small an impact we think we are making in the project, we are breaking down the problem at hand and solving the smaller problem. In the end, our work would be a part of a bigger project and it will have a bigger impact in the future without even realizing.
What distinguished my dreams is how I think about making money in this field. I believe that the point of working in a Computer Science professional is not about earning money, it is about helping to solve a problem and being part of the team to solve the problem. I believe that we should work to live, we should not live to work, we should not think of jobs in terms of money. We must think about our other priorities at the same time as well. Once, we begin to think in that mindset of a job we will be successful and we will earn a lot of money in that career without realizing it.
A metaphor that will appeal to others that I often follow is “life is a climb, but the view is great”. My takeaway from this metaphor, which can be applied in terms of having a future as a Computer Scientist is that we should know that success does not come easier, we will all struggle in the beginning, to get a job to our liking and succeed in that job, however, in the end, even though we don’t earn a lot of money or are not as successful as we imagined, the way how we got as far in our career and in our life is great.
